5 Reasons Your BISP Payment Is Stuck
You’re eligible, the installment has been released in your area, but your money still hasn’t arrived. So why is your BISP payment stuck? In most cases it comes down to one of five common issues — and the good news is that almost every one of them is fixable in a single visit to your BISP office. Here are the five reasons, with the exact fix for each.
Before you start: check your status by sending your 13-digit CNIC (no dashes) to 8171, or on the 8171 web portal, so you know which of the reasons below applies to you.
1. Your district is still in a later payment phase
BISP doesn’t pay everyone on the same day. Each Rs 14,500 installment is released phase-wise, district by district, so the system doesn’t overload. If your neighbour got paid and you didn’t, your area may simply be scheduled later — this is the single most common reason a payment looks “stuck.”
The fix: Nothing is actually wrong. Keep checking your status every two to three days until the end of the current cycle (30 September 2026 for the July–September quarter). If your status says In Process or Eligible, you’re just waiting your turn.
2. Your NSER survey (household data) has expired
Families registered before 2021, or whose PMT score hasn’t been refreshed in three years, must complete a fresh dynamic survey. Outdated household data automatically puts a hold on your payment until it’s updated.
The fix: Visit your nearest BISP Tehsil Center with your original CNIC and your children’s B-Forms, and complete the dynamic survey. Updated data can take a few weeks to reflect. See our full NSER dynamic survey guidefor the step-by-step.
3. Biometric verification failed
A fingerprint or face mismatch at the payment point is one of the top reasons a payment gets held. Importantly, this does not mean your money is cancelled — it’s only paused until your identity is confirmed.
The fix: Retry biometric verification. If the scanner is faulty, try a different authorised retailer or go to the BISP office. If your fingerprints repeatedly fail, you may be referred to NADRA to update your biometric data.
4. Your CNIC is expired or your NADRA record doesn’t match
If your CNIC has expired, BISP can’t match your identity with NADRA records, and the payment is blocked. The same happens when your family details in the two systems don’t line up.
The fix: Renew your CNIC at NADRA first, then take the new CNIC to the BISP Tehsil office to update your record. For a family mismatch, get a Family Registration Certificate (FRC) from NADRA and submit it with your CNIC so staff can correct the record.
5. Your digital wallet isn’t activated
BISP now sends most payments through the free Benazir SIM and a linked digital wallet (via JazzCash or Easypaisa). If you received an SMS to activate your wallet and haven’t done it, there’s nowhere for the money to land.
The fix: Activate the wallet through biometric verification at a BISP Tehsil office or authorised franchise, using your original CNIC and registered SIM. Pending amounts may then release in the current or next cycle. Our Benazir SIM and digital wallet registration guide walks you through the whole process. (Interlink opportunity.)

Don’t fall for “unblock your payment” scams
Payment problems are exactly when scammers strike:
- Rely only on the official BISP website and the 8171 portal for confirmed information.
- BISP is 100% free. No one can charge a fee to “release” or “unblock” your payment.
- There is no secret double payment for a fee — the standard amount is Rs 14,500.
- Always verify your own fingerprint; never let an agent handle your biometric alone.
- Report anyone demanding money to the free helpline 0800-26477.
